When grocery shopping we are always trying to choose products that will slim our waistline, reduce the double-chin and so forth.  Except what we think is healthy and marketed healthy may actually not be!

Newsweek listed ‘5 Healthy Snacks that aren’t so healthy’

  1. Dried Veggies
  2. Veggie Chips
  3. Granola Bars
  4. Dried Fruit
  5. Bran Muffins

After reading the article I’m sticking with fresh fruit and veggies….and of course my elliptical machine :)

Coffee & Tea May be a Cancer Risk

Drinking coffee or tea during pregnancy may increase the risk of the baby developing cancer later in life. Experts claim that the caffeine can be damaging to the baby in the womb of the mother and make it more susceptible to cancers. Although it is not a “proven” fact that there is connection between cancer and caffeine experts have just put two and two together and made an ‘educated guess’.

Quit Smoking Lose Weight

Apparently teenagers that smoke heavily are more likely to be overweight adults.  Then there is the assumption that when people quit smoking weight gain is expected.  Personally I think that a lot of this is in the minds of the smokers.  Smokers trying to quit are expecting to gain weight because of the “assumption” and reputation of quitting.  I say quit smoking, buy a treadmill to take your mind off of having the urge to stick a cancer stick in your mouth and LIVE YOUR LIFE!

Good luck to all!

Exercising with an Elliptical & Mini Banana’s

Week 2 of exercising with an elliptical. This past weekend when I was at a local grocery store instead of picking up a big bundle of banana’s I found mini bananas. I never saw bananas this small before…so I had to buy them. They taste pretty much the same and are just as healthy as the “normal” sized bananas. The only downfall to these teeny tiny bananas are peeling them!  It can be a tricky task, but I find that eating a quick snack a couple times throughout the day can add to a great weight exercise program!

Worried about Man-Boobs?

Apparently, figures are to be released that men opting for breast reduction surgery has increased by nearly half.  Now I’m wondering is this because less and less people are taking the time to exercise?  These days life in general are becoming more rapid, everyone seems to be in a hurry.  Whether it’s their work-life, love-life, family-life…etc.  Taking 30 minutes out of your day to do any sort of excessive movement can be helpful, it’s better than going to work and sitting on your butt and then going home and playing video games all night.

So, if you’re scared of man-boobs, muffin top, rolls or whatever it maybe alter your daily activity slightly and results will happen eventually.

It’s workout season

After everything was said and done I bought my very first elliptical trainer yesterday! It fit perfectly in my room and only took my dad and my boyfriend an hour to put together. My friend purchased a space-saver treadmill two weeks ago, and is enjoying her experience thus far.  Today we started a plan to exercise daily and eat healthy.  I’m wondering the difference in results we will find, since we are both using two completely different exercise machines.

I’m starting my workout tonight and am hoping I don’t wake up tomorrow incredibly sore tomorrow.  The first workout in beginner level is 30 minutes.  Wish me luck!!

What’s the Best Exercise Machine?

So, now I’m thinking about buying an elliptical trainer instead of a treadmill, just because of size.  Right now I’m not quite sure I have the room and the money for a big commercial treadmill.  I was looking into ellipticals and found that elliptical are just as good, if not better than the infamous treadmill.  What do you think?

It’s not just the weight that would be nice to lose, but I think becoming more tone in certain areas would satisfy me.  Does anyone know of any workout programs that they do using an elliptical?

Treadmills – The New Fad, Lose Weight in 09′

Are treadmills the new fad?  I was reading an article about the popularity of treadmills and it made some very interesting points.  Treadmills are great for beginners and experienced ‘exercisers.’  Walking on a treadmill burns the most calories and you can multi-task while on it.

I recommend when purchasing a treadmill read the reviews and public opinion of the machine.

Reality TV is back again with, The Biggest Loser, Tuesday’s at 8pm on NBC. If you need to catch up on first week’s episode check out Addicted to Reality, a reality TV site. When I read the post on the reality TV site I was shocked to find that there is a 19 year old shockingly close to 500 lbs. As I had mentioned yesterday I’m in the process of looking for a treadmill and the one’s I’m considering have weight limits of around 300 lbs, what kind of commercial treadmills are they using? As a reality TV fan I have never been too interested in The Biggest Loser, but after learning the rules of the ‘game’ I will be tuning in tonight at 8 pm!
